A 3U VPX module is a standardized electronic computer board usually used in aerospace or defense applications. VPX (VITA 46) is a high-speed interconnect standard developed by VITA (VME International Trade Association). VPX can provide higher performance than its predecessor, VMEbus modules, by utilizing high-speed serial fabrics including PCI Express, RapidIO, and Ethernet.

3U refers to the size of the model. U, standing for units, is a standard height measurement for rack units. With each unit measuring 1.75 inches, 3U VPX modules are 5.25 inches tall. In addition to 3U modules, Acromag also offers 6U options. Both form factors are known for being rugged and reliable, withstanding harsh environments, making them perfect for demanding military and aerospace missions. Because the plug-in boards are modular and scalable, they allow for efficient handling of complex computing tasks and easy system maintenance or upgrades.
