What is the Difference Between XMC and PMC?
The main differences between XMC (Switched Mezzanine Card) and PMC (PCI Mezzanine Card) lie in their interface technology and performance capabilities. While PMC uses standard PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect), XMC uses the upgraded PCIe (PCI express)standard. Using modern PCIe interfaces sets XMC up for better performance and faster speeds. However, PMC still offers adequate performance for many I/O functions making it an ideal choice for expanding or updating older systems.
Acromag provides both PMC and XMC modules tailored to various application needs. Our XMC modules offer advanced capabilities for high-speed data acquisition, communication, and signal processing with FPGAs. In comparison, our PMC modules provide reliable solutions for legacy systems and applications that may not require the latest technology, such as digital I/O and RS232/485 communication. All modules are tailored to various industrial, defense, and aerospace applications and provide rugged, high-performance solutions to meet diverse requirements.
