In Modbus TCP communication, a typical message structure consists of messages and responses on a client-server system. Messages usually consist of reading inputs/outputs and writing responses to the I/O after a client request is issued. Uses of these messages include data acquisition and monitoring, control and automation, communication to the device or user, and logging data. Common messages include “Read Holding Registers”, “Write Single Register”, “Read Input Registers”, and “Write Multiple Registers”.

Acromag’s Modbus TCP modules, such as the BusWorks NT Series I/O Modules, are designed to provide reliable and efficient communication in industrial automation applications, ensuring seamless data exchange and integration into Ethernet networks.
