OpenVPX Single Board Computers (SBCs) & Carrier Cards

Single board computers (SBCs) and carrier cards are two types of components that are commonly used in OpenVPX systems. SBCs are self-contained computer boards that can be used as the main processor in a computing system, while carrier cards are used to interface other types of I/O modules, such as AcroPack, PMC, or XMC modules, to a VPX computer system. These types of products are often used in applications where high-performance computing and high-speed I/O are required, such as in defense and aerospace systems, scientific research, and other demanding environments. They offer a flexible and scalable solution for building custom computing systems that can be tailored to meet the specific needs of the application.

OpenVPX™ Boards are Rugged and Military Ready - Continued

Green Separator Line

Acromag VPX products are designed for COTS applications. High performance 3U or 6U single board computers feature air or conduction-cooled options.  VPX carrier cards provide a simple and cost-effective solution for interfacing mezzanine I/O modules to a VPX computer system.

The AcroExpress® 3U and 6U SBC modules can support either one or two DDR4 ECC SODIMMs, for a total of up to 32GB. The SODIMMs are firmly attached to the module with screws and surrounded by heat sink material to provide a mechanically and thermally robust mechanism. Extended temperature models are available for operating in a -40°C to +85°C range.

They contain two M.2 expansion card slots to provide on-board storage capabilities. The M.2 slots support the use of SATA III and PCIe Gen. 3 storage drives.

The VPX6860 6U SBC supports an XMC mezzanine module, with up to a x8 Gen3 PCIe interface. It also supports one AcroPack or mini-PCIe module.

Acromag’s 3U and 6U OpenVPX™ carrier cards for VPX, XMC or PMC mezzanine modules are also designed for COTS applications. These carrier cards feature a high-speed PCI Express interface making them ideal for high-performance aerospace, defense, and scientific research. Choose from air-cooled, conduction-cooled or Ruggedized Enhanced Design Implementation (REDI VITA 48).
