This month we showcase our XCOM-6400 COM Express processor board, featured in Sensor Concepts Inc's InfiniSCAN integrated measurement systems family. We also feature our rugged Type-6 COM Express carriers. And in case you missed it last month, we showcased our AcroPack™ I/O modules enhanced with a reconfigurable Xilinx Artix-7 FPGA.
Sensor Concepts Inc. Selects Acromag’s Processor Board for use in their New InfiniSCAN Product Line
Acromag's XCOM-6400 rugged COM Express processor featuring an extra-thick circuit board, advanced thermal management, and extended operating temperature is the ideal high-performance processor for the InfiniSCAN.
Sensor Concepts Inc., a manufacturer of dedicated inspection equipment used by the DOD for maintenance of their Stealth fleets, is in development of a new line of integrated measurement systems known as the InfiniSCAN family. The first entry for this product line is a handheld variant that is designed to be used in and around aircraft hangars with fueled aircraft present. As such, the design of this equipment must be evaluated to meet stringent US (Class I, Division 2) and European Union (CE ATEX) requirements for hazardous locations.
Rugged COM Express Carriers for Dependable Operation in Harsh Environments
Acromag's ACEX-4600 COM Express carriers feature a rugged design and the ability to tolerate extended temperature ranges. Three COTS models are available that interface a Type 6 COM Express module, two Mini PCIe modules, and optionally one or two PMC/XMC modules for FPGA or I/O processing.
Designed for use in small form factor defense, aerospace, and heavy industrial computing systems, the ACEX-4600 carrier cards employ a variety of features for more demanding conditions:
- Mix and match endless combinations in a single slot
- VPX and PCIe carriers
- Mix and match endless combinations in a single slot
- Linux®, Windows®, and VxWorks® support
- Sample software and diagnostics
- Solid Down connector I/O interface (no flimsy ribbon I/O cables)
- -40 to 85°C standard operating temperature
- A/D, D/A, serial communication, counter/timers and FPGA

Acromag’s New AcroPack™ I/O Platform adds a Reconfigurable Xilinx® Artix®-7 FPGA for Custom Computing Applications.
For embedded computing applications this next generation I/O module offers a PCIe interface format suitable for VPX and ruggedized PCIe-based computers.
Acromag’s new APA7-200 series provides a user-customizable FPGA on an AcroPack mezzanine module. The module plugs into a connector on an AcroPack carrier to add up to 48 TTL or 24 EIA-485/422 I/O signals or a mix of both types. Mix and match I/O combinations in a single slot for embedded applications running on Linux®, Windows®, or VxWorks® operating systems. APA7-200 modules begin at $900 each along with a recommended one-time purchase of the $310 Engineering Design kit software.
