Job Description

The Controller position is responsible for the financial support and accounting operations of Acromag, Inc., an electronic manufacturing company. Providing timely communicated analyses on expenses, product cost structuring, budgeting and other processes to optimize income and better manage the business is key to this position. Accounting operations include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, controls and budgets designed to enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results that comply with generally accepted accounting principles.


  • Prepare and analyze monthly income statement and other reporting requirements
  • Prepare and analyze annual budget income statement & expenses
  • Review manufacturing variances and spending monthly
  • Initiate and implement process improvements in plant cost reporting
  • Analyze product costs and develop alternatives and recommendations for product changes
  • Prepare and review annual audit schedules
  • Prepare periodic forecasts
  • Lead annual burden and cost process
  • Prepare journal entries for month and year end closing
  • Review and analyze fixed assets, depreciation and capital project activity
  • Prepare and review special projects as required for financial requests
  • Manage accounting staff

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 3-5 years accounting/finance work experience, preferably in manufacturing
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to evaluate cause and effect
  • Outward personality and ability to communicate at all levels.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Maximum weight to be handled is 30 pounds.
  • Most of the work is to be performed in a sitting position. The ability to remain sitting for up to 8 hours at a time if necessary.
  • May occasionally perform duties in a standing, kneeling or squatting, position.
  • May be required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Good eyesight and the ability to distinguish color is necessary, and the ability to adjust focus for use of a computer monitor.
  • Able to speak, read, write and understand English as it relates to performing job requirements.

Working Conditions

  • The work schedule consists of a five-day, 40-hour workweek, with overtime dependent on departmental needs.
  • May be expected to visit the production floor, where the noise level is moderate to high noise level, with suitable lighting, and with a mild chemical odor and fumes.
