Peer-to-Peer I/O over Ethernet

Acromag’s Busworks 900EN Series I/O modules feature i2o™ technology which enables peer-to-peer communication between remote I/O modules using any Ethernet media. You can easily transmit data from an input module to an output module across copper Cat5 cable, an existing network, fiber optic lines, or using wireless radio modems.

Peer-to-Peer I/O over Ethernet

The i2o solution is ideal for monitoring remote systems when you don't need a PLC or HMI software to control the process. With i2o, you can view the data on your PC's web browser or display it on inexpensive instrumentation (panel meters, lights, horns, etc.).

Extended Signal Conditioners

  • The inputs are a long distance away from the desired output location.
  • Example: thermocouple inputs are on the plant floor and you need the 4-20mA outputs in the control room

Signal Splitter for Analog, Discrete, or Temperature Inputs

  • One voltage or current input can be sent to multiple remote voltage or current outputs at up to twelve locations.
  • One discrete contact can be connected in parallel to yield multiple contact outputs at up to three remote location.
  • One temperature (thermocouple or RTD) input can be mapped to two different IP addresses.

Wire Saver

  • Multiple inputs are mapped to multiple outputs over Ethernet media.

I/O Hub

  • One output module receives signals mapped from multiple input modules.

Remote Alarming

  • Analog inputs mapped to remote analog outputs connected to alarm module.

Remote Selector Switch

  • Discrete inputs mapped to discrete outputs.

Remote Monitoring

  • Provide measured signal from remote source for input to PLC, DCS, controller,.recorder, or display without network communication capability.
  • Provide input to meters, lamps, or buzzers from remote I/O source

Tank Level Monitoring and Pump Control

  • Provide 4-20mA or contact signals from remote level sensors to pumps

Valve Control Loop (using 951EN modules with both inputs and outputs)

  • Valve position represented by 4-20mA input to Module A mapped to output channel on Module B connected to a PLC. Then reverse direction from PLC back to control valve using the same two modules. PLC signal input to Module B is mapped to output channel on Module A to control valve.

Event Driven vs. Polling

  • Discrete inputs mapped to discrete outputs that switch on change-of-state.
