New inch-wide Ethernet I/O modules interface 16 discrete I/O and perform counter/timer functions.
Acromag expands its BusWorks® I/O series with new high-density Ethernet discrete I/O modules providing pulse counters with timers, alarms and non-volatile memory.
Acromag has extended their BusWorks® line of high-density Ethernet I/O modules with the 989EN for distributed I/O and SCADA applications with new isolated discrete I/O units that perform counter/timer functions. These space-saving inch-wide modules provide an isolated Ethernet Modbus TCI/IP interface for any input/output mix of up to 16 discrete signals. Inputs sense the status of dry contacts, switches, power supplies, or DC logic. Industrial-grade units have eight 32-bit pulse counters with timers, alarms, and non-volatile memory for metering, totalizing, and low-frequency periodic measurement functions. Outputs control solid-state switching of lamps, horns, and other devices. Prices start at $195.
Common applications involve monitoring of temperature, pressure, flow, level and discrete sensor switches in process control applications. Outputs are ideal for switching valves, actuators, pumps, and motors as well as for audible or visual alarms. Counter/timer functions are useful for proximity, RFID, or speed measurement and for totaling pulses in utility meter and predictive maintenance cycle applications. read more

Popular 8B isolated signal conditioner modules are now available from Acromag.
Tiny, low-cost 8B analog I/O modules provide high-performance front-end isolation and signal conditioning in an easy-to-use plug-in format.
A full line of 8B isolated signal conditioning modules are now available from Acromag. With more than 100 models, 8B modules interface to a wide variety of voltage, current, temperature, position, frequency, and strain measuring devices. The ±5V or 0-5V DC output makes an effective front-end for use with Acromag's Ethernet, Modbus, and Profibus analog input modules or directly to controllers and other instrumentation. The tiny 8B signal conditioners are only one-fifth the size of competing products, but they deliver instrument-level performance with superior specifications such as ±0.05% accuracy, ±0.02% linearity, 3- to 5-pole filtering, 1500Vrms isolation, low output noise and much more. Prices start at just $89 per module.

Ask the I/O Experts
Question: Do you have a 2ch, 4-20mA input, "Low Selector" Instrument with a broken input wire detection feature that will clamp the output to 4mA if I lose both inputs? I have a Thermal Oxidizer and need to monitor/control using the lowest of two 4-20mA signals coming from my temperature transmitters. If either loop breaks open, I need to pass thru the active loop. However, if both loops break open, I need the output to clamp at 4mA.
Answer: Yes. Acromag’s Model 892M-0500 Dual Input Math Module and Model 800C-SIP Configuration Software Kit should work fine. See below for the ranging, scaling, equation, and explanation.
Configure and Scale the 892M I/O as follows:
Input A= 0 to 20mA, scaled 0 to 20.000
Input B= 0 to 20mA, scaled 0 to 20.000
Output = 0 to 20mA, scaled 0 to 20.000
Output Equation=(((A<4)*(B<4))*4)+(((A<4)*(B>=4))*B)+(((A>=4)*(B<4))*A)+(((A>=4)*(B>=4))*MIN(A,B))
Note, the equation above uses conditional logic statements that translate to a mathematical number 1 when true and 0 when false.
The equation performs as follows:
When A<4mA and B<4mA, output goes to 4mA.
When A<4mA and B>=4mA, pass thru B to the output
When A>=4mA and B<4mA, pass thru A to the output
When A>=4mA and B>=4mA, pass thru Minimum of A or B to the output
