New 5-Port Industrial Ethernet Switch features internal intelligence for “connect and go” easy installation

Acromag introduces BusWorks® 900EN-S005 Switch with auto-negotiation of data rate, flow control, and crossover signal compatibility for quick installation and simple operation.

Acromag’s new five-port Ethernet switch is specially designed for use in industrial applications. Rugged construction and a variety of security features ensure reliable operation under demanding conditions. Internal intelligence enables “connect and go” operation for fast and easy network installation with auto-negotiation of 10/100 Mbps data rate, full/half-duplex flow control, and crossover signal compatibility. No configuration is necessary when the 900EN-S005 is used as a simple switch with Acromag’s Ethernet I/O modules. For advanced users, this switch offers numerous control functions that are easily configured through DIP-switch settings or programmed using your computer. The switch has a list price of $395.

ISA Expo 2003 Review

Click here to view a larger imageAcromag introduced their BusWorks® 900EN Series Ethernet I/O modules with a direct network interface on each inch-wide module to eliminate expensive buscouplers, large I/O racks, and special software. These new I/O Modules feature higher density, lower installation costs, and easier configuration using a web browser . At the show, Acromag demonstrated the new 12 channel Ethernet I/O module interfacing with a Siemens/Moore 353 Controller. Click here to view a picture of the demo. Another featured display showed a PC with SpecView Software talking to Acromag’s Ethernet I/O, while a third display demonstrated wireless communication between Modbus-RTU I/O and a Honeywell HC900 controller using RF Modems. Acromag’s new BusWorks® 900EN Series I/O Modules interface analog and discrete I/O signals directly to an Ethernet Modbus/TCP 10/100Mbps network. The twelve-channel, inch-wide I/O modules operate independently of any buscoupler device or I/O rack, nor do they require any special system power supply. These self-contained I/O modules are more cost and space-efficient for applications requiring fewer I/O channels by offering lower startup costs and higher density mounting. Setup is also faster and easier with embedded web pages enabling configuration on any standard web browser. No other software is required. Flexible power requirements support operation on standard 15-36V DC power supplies. The 12-channel discrete I/O modules ($350) are ideal for on/off monitoring and control of industrial devices. Analog I/O modules ($550 for 12 channels) interface DC voltage or current input signals to the network controller.
