NEW EtherStaxTM I/O Function
Programmable “Power-Up” Condition Registers

Acromag has added EtherStax modbus registers and web-page access features to the ES2113 96ch DIO units. When configured, the units can now power up with any combination of discrete output channels in the “on” or “off” states. This feature is very useful for “test-stand” or “annunciator” applications where the host computer system is located in a remote area and not guaranteed to be polling the units in the event of a power cycle to the test equipment. Acromag has also added the capability to perform a remote “reset” to the ES2113 units via the built-in web server or access thru the modbus registers. As of September 2007, all ES2113 units shipping from the factory will have this new feature/capability on board.

Ask the I/O Experts

Question: I have an application involving drum level signals at a power plant.Could one of your Intellipack modules take in three two-wire transmitter inputs and output the median value signal?

Answer: Yes, Acromag’s Model 894M-0500 Quad Input Math Module should work fine. To pass thru the "Median" value, simply add all inputs together (ie; A+B+C) and subtract out the MAX and MIN inputs. Example: Output=A+B+C-(MAX(A,B,C))-(MIN(A,B,C)).
