New Ethernet/IP I/O Modules Cut the Cost of Remote I/O by Eliminating Expensive Buscouplers and Controllers.

Acromag will introduce BusWorks® 900EN Series I/O modules with Ethernet/IP protocol at ISA 2004. Each I/O module has a built-in network port, eliminating the need for an expensive buscoupler or controller unit.

Acromag's new BusWorks® 900EN Series I/O Modules interface up to 12 analog or discrete I/O signals directly to an Ethernet/IP network. Since each remote I/O module has its own Ethernet port, it can operate independently of a buscoupler or controller that typically handles network communication for modular/block I/O systems. Without those expensive communication devices, Acromag's I/O modules are able to deliver a far more cost and space-efficient solution. Flexible power requirements support operation on standard 12-36V DC power supplies. A complete 12-channel discrete I/O solution starts at just $350 and only needs one inch of DIN rail space. A single analog I/O module that interfaces a dozen sensors is only $550. If more channels are needed, simply add another I/O module.

The I/O modules provide an isolated Ethernet/IP 10/100 Mbps network interface. Modbus/TCP versions are also available. Units are configured via an Internet browser-no other software is required. Built-in watchdog timers monitor for network communication problems while self-diagnostic capabilities simplify maintenance and troubleshooting. A failsafe mode can also be set to ensure outputs are sent to a safe state if a failure occurs.

The discrete I/O modules are ideal for on/off monitoring and control of industrial devices. Analog input modules interface DC voltage, current or temperature signals to the network. And, analog output modules provide DC voltage or process current control signals for displays or recorders.

Ask the I/O Experts
Question: Is it possible my network's firewall or proxy server will interfere with communication to my Ethernet I/O modules?

Answer:
Yes. Many industrial networks use a proxy server to create a firewall. With this configuration, the proxy server prevents the computer from communicating with the module. If using the Internet Explorer browser, go to the top tool bar and click: Tools / Options / Connections / LAN Settings. Then uncheck the proxy server.

CE and FCC Approvals
Acromag's Ethernet I/O Products are now CE marked. UL, cUL listed Class1; Division 2; Groups A, B, C, D.
