Industry Packs: Re-Invigorating the Line
 To support our customers, Acromag is currently updating the designs on many Industry Pack modules as part of our commitment to maintaining long-term product availability. Our Industry Pack modules continue to be very popular many years after their original introductions. Some models are now 10 years old and many key components are becoming obsolete. Additionally, new environmental initiatives such as RoHS, threaten the availability of many older components containing lead and other hazardous materials. However, to protect our customers' investments in hardware and software development, Acromag is crafting new designs that are form, fit, and functional equivalents of the originals.
As a solution, several Industry Pack modules have been reintroduced with newer technology to extend their life, improve quality, and protect the environment. Many more will be available soon. These updated models are designated with an 'A' appended to the original model number, for example IP220A. Designed as full functional equivalents, implementing the new versions requires no software modification, no changes to field wiring, and any new enhanced features will be "blind" to existing customers. No surprises!
Approximately 2-3 months before an updated design is released, notification will be sent to current customers notifying them of planned changes. We will also publish a "Known Difference" statement. Once again, our goal is no surprises for you, our customers.
The following models are now available:
- APC8620A PCI Industry Pack carrier card with five IP slots
- APC8621A PCI Industry Pack carrier card with three IP slots
- IP220A Industry Pack analog output module with 12-bit D/A
- IP320A Industry Pack analog input module with 12-bit A/D
- IP500A Industry Pack serial communication module with EIA/TIA-232 ports
More 'A' models are coming soon. For availability of other modules, please contact your local Acromag representative or the Acromag factory.
